Ideal Heat Engine Gasket Kit 173823

The Ideal 173823 Heat Engine Gasket Kit is a sealing set for the heat engine assembly used across a number of Ideal condensing boilers. It is produced by Ideal as a service part for the Elise HE and Esprit 2 ranges, where the heat engine carries the primary heat exchanger and its associated waterways. The gaskets in the kit seal the mating faces of that assembly, preventing water and combustion products from escaping at the joints.

• Water weeping or staining around the heat engine joints, often visible as crusting or rust marks on the casing
• Gaskets that have hardened, flattened or cracked after long service, so they no longer seal under compression
• A leak that appears after the heat engine has been removed and refitted, indicating the original seals have not reseated
• Falling system pressure with no obvious external leak elsewhere on the boiler
• Damp patches or drips beneath the appliance that track back to the heat engine faces

• Check the model and GC number against the compatibility list below, as the kit covers several Elise HE and Esprit 2 variants
• Confirm the part number on the existing component or in the boiler documentation, and note the alternative number 1780764
• If the heat engine is being disturbed for another repair, replace the gaskets at the same time rather than reusing the old ones
