What it is

The Ideal 173785 is a domestic hot water (DHW) heat exchanger used across a number of Ideal and Henrad combi and heating appliances. It transfers heat from the primary circuit to the domestic hot water supply. The part is supplied with four O-rings for the water connections.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Domestic hot water runs cool or fluctuates while the heating circuit performs normally
  • Scale or sludge build-up restricting flow through the DHW side of the exchanger
  • Water weeping from the exchanger connections or around the O-ring seals
  • Kettling, banging or whistling noise when a hot water tap is opened
  • Discoloured or gritty water at the hot taps
