What it is

The Ideal 173532 User Control Kit is the user interface assembly for an Ideal heating appliance. It carries the controls the user operates directly — the mode selector, temperature adjustment and the display that reports the appliance's status. It is the section of the casing through which the boiler is switched between heating and hot water operation and through which settings are changed.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The display is blank, dim or shows incomplete segments while the appliance still runs.
  • Buttons or knobs do not respond, or the appliance will not change between heating and hot water modes.
  • The appliance remains locked in one mode regardless of the setting selected.
  • Fault codes appear that trace back to the control interface rather than to the ignition or water circuit.
  • Physical damage to the panel, cracked fascia or moisture ingress behind the controls.

Before you order

  • Confirm the part number on the existing control panel or in the appliance's service documentation matches IDEAL173532.
  • Check the appliance model and, where available, the GC number against the compatibility list before purchase.
  • Inspect the panel surround and any sealing gasket on removal, as these are often disturbed during replacement.
  • Work on the appliance casing and controls should be carried out by a competent person; isolate the electrical supply before removing the panel.
