What it is
The Ideal 173512 is a detection lead used on Ideal Isar HE and Icos System HE appliances. It forms the electrical link between the flame detection electrode and the appliance control board, carrying the small signal that tells the board whether a flame is present. A sound lead keeps that signal clean, so the appliance can prove ignition and run without nuisance lockouts.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The appliance fires, then shuts down because the board cannot confirm a flame
- Repeated lockouts on start-up, sometimes clearing on a reset and returning later
- Intermittent running with the burner dropping out mid-cycle
- Visible damage to the lead: cracked or brittle insulation, scorched sleeving, or a loose crimp at the electrode or board end
- Continuity readings that change when the lead is flexed or moved
