What it is
The Ideal 173379 is a complete tie rod for nine-section Ideal commercial boilers. Tie rods pass through the sectional castings and clamp the stack together, holding the sections tight so the joints between them stay sealed under operating pressure and temperature cycling. This is the complete rod as supplied for a nine-section build.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping, tracking or rust staining at the joints between boiler sections
- Visible corrosion, pitting or thinning along the length of the tie rod
- Stretched rod or damaged threads, so the sections cannot be pulled up tight
- Section joint seals failing again shortly after the stack has been re-tightened
- Slack or movement in the section stack when the boiler is running under load
