What it is
The Ideal 173193 is a 19-litre expansion vessel supplied for Ideal Istor HE260 and HE325 appliances. It provides the air cushion that absorbs the increase in water volume as the sealed system heats up, keeping system pressure within the range the appliance is designed to work at. A sound vessel protects the pressure relief valve, the pump and the heat exchanger from repeated over-pressure cycling.
Signs this part needs replacing
- System pressure climbs sharply as the appliance heats and drops again once it cools.
- Water discharges from the pressure relief valve during normal running.
- Water rather than air escapes when the air valve on the vessel is depressed.
- The appliance repeatedly locks out or reports low pressure faults.
