What it is

The Ideal 173024 is a detection electrode used on Ideal Commercial boiler plant. It sits in the combustion path and signals the control board when a flame is established, allowing the burner to run and the gas valve to stay open. It is listed against the Imax Plus range and other Ideal Commercial appliances.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler fires, then locks out shortly afterwards because no flame signal is returned.
  • Repeated ignition attempts with the burner lighting briefly and then shutting down.
  • Intermittent shutdowns during a demand for heat or hot water.
  • A fault code or lockout pattern pointing to flame detection rather than ignition.
  • Visible damage to the electrode tip, ceramic insulator or lead connection.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the electrode is used across several Imax Plus outputs.
  • Check the number on the existing electrode; earlier builds may carry 95250625.
  • Inspect the electrode lead, plug and any sealing washer at the same time, as these are disturbed during replacement.
  • Work on the combustion circuit should be carried out by a competent engineer.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
