What it is
The Ideal 172897 is a left-hand side panel supplied as part of the casing assembly for Ideal Commercial Buccaneer boilers. It forms the outer left flank of the appliance casing on 6-section units, closing off the heat exchanger and burner area while giving the boiler its finished appearance. The panel is a direct replacement for the original casing component on the Buccaneer GTE and GTE6 ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible cracking, splitting or deformation in the panel skin
- Corrosion or rust staining along the lower edge or around fixing points
- Panel no longer sits flush against the boiler frame, leaving gaps in the casing
- Fixing holes elongated or torn so the panel cannot be secured properly
- Impact damage from servicing or transit that has bent the panel out of shape
Before you order
- Confirm the boiler is a 6-section Buccaneer model, as panel dimensions differ between section counts
- Check the model and serial plate on the appliance against the compatibility list below
- Cross-check the alternative number 1179142 and previous number 85758861 against any old paperwork before ordering
- Have the appliance isolated and cooled before removing the existing casing panel
