What it is
The Ideal 172879 thermostat pocket, also listed as sensor pocket 95361215, is a metal sleeve that holds a temperature sensor or thermostat probe in contact with the pipework or waterway inside the appliance. It is used across the Ideal Commercial Buccaneer GT and GT3 ranges. The pocket keeps the probe dry while allowing it to read water temperature accurately, so the appliance can control firing and modulation correctly.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Temperature readings drift, or the appliance cycles on readings that do not match the system
- The probe no longer sits securely in the pocket and can be moved by hand
- Scale, sludge or corrosion build-up inside the pocket, reducing heat transfer to the probe
- Visible cracking, distortion or thinning of the pocket wall
- Weeping or staining at the pocket thread or joint
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering
- Match part number 172879, or the alternative numbers 1179124 and 95361215, to the pocket being removed
- Inspect the sealing washer or gasket at the pocket connection and replace it if it is compressed or damaged
