What it is

The Ideal 172725 is a flat EPDM gasket sized 32 x 23 x 3.0mm, used to seal the joint between pipework and internal components on Ideal Commercial boilers. It is part of the Imax W appliance family, where gaskets of this pattern sit at connections to heat exchangers, fans and other assemblies that carry water or flue gases. EPDM is specified for its resistance to hot water, steam and the temperature cycling that commercial plant sees in daily service.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Weeping or dripping at a pipe or component joint that the gasket seals
  • Visible hardening, flattening or cracking of the gasket face once the joint is opened
  • Scale, corrosion or black oxide deposits sitting in the gasket seat
  • Repeated pressure loss on the system with no other obvious source
  • Water tracking onto nearby electrical components or the boiler casing

Before you order

  • Check the model and GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list before ordering, as the same gasket pattern is used across several Imax W variants.
  • Note that this product has been discontinued with no alternative and is no longer available.
  • The alternative part number 1179026 may appear on older documentation or stock records for the same item.
  • If the joint is being remade as part of a wider repair, check whether any other seals on the same assembly also need renewing.
