What it is
The Ideal 172657 is a transformer used in the control panel section of Ideal Commercial Imax W appliances. It forms part of the user interface assembly, the area that carries the control knobs and digital display used to adjust the appliance settings. The transformer provides the low-voltage supply that the control panel electronics rely on to operate.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The control panel display stays blank with the appliance otherwise powered.
- The boiler does not respond when settings are changed at the control panel.
- Control panel functions cut in and out intermittently during use.
- The panel loses its settings or resets without input.
- No low-voltage output is measured at the control panel supply.
Before you order
- Check the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list to confirm the correct variant.
- Confirm the model and, where applicable, the fuel type, as propane and natural gas versions are listed separately.
- Note the alternative number 1178984, which may appear on older documentation or labels.
- Work inside the control panel should be carried out by a competent engineer, with the appliance isolated before any part is removed.
