What it is

This is a replacement fan assembly manufactured by Ideal for its commercial Imax range. The fan draws fresh air into the combustion chamber so the gas can burn correctly, then drives the products of combustion out through the flue once the burn cycle is complete. It is a mechanical wear item, so bearing noise, slow spin-up or a fan that fails to prove its speed will stop the appliance from firing.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The appliance locks out on start-up because the fan fails to reach or prove its running speed.
  • Grinding, rumbling or whistling from the fan housing that does not clear once the appliance has run for a few minutes.
  • The fan runs intermittently, stalls, or needs a manual nudge before the burner will light.
  • Soot deposits, a lazy yellow flame or repeated combustion faults pointing to poor air delivery into the chamber.
  • Visible damage to the impellor, housing or mounting points, or a fan that has seized completely.

Before you order

  • Confirm the model and GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list, as W60 and W80 variants use different configurations.
  • Check the existing fan against the alternative numbers 1178969 and N0175-AB to make sure you are matching the correct unit.
  • Inspect the fan mounting gasket and sealing face while the old assembly is off; a new seal is often needed to keep the combustion circuit airtight.
