What it is

The Ideal Fan Assembly 28 KW (part number 172598) is a replacement fan unit for Ideal Mini boilers. It draws fresh air into the combustion chamber and drives the burnt gases out through the flue, so combustion is correct and the products of combustion leave the appliance safely. The boiler's safety controls stop gas reaching the main burner if the fan is not running correctly.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to fire, with a fan or flue fault indicated
  • The fan runs noisily, with rumbling, scraping or whining from the bearings
  • The boiler lights and then shuts down shortly afterwards
  • Repeated lockouts that clear on reset but return
  • Soot, debris or visible damage around the fan housing or impeller
