What it is
The Ideal 172542 is a 3/4 inch central heating isolating valve supplied as a spare for Ideal domestic boilers. It sits on the heating circuit pipework and allows the water flow to be shut off at that point, so the appliance or a section of the system can be drained and worked on without emptying the whole installation. It is a serviceable component rather than a gas-carrying part.
