Ideal Diverter Valve Actuator Europa 172505

The Ideal 172505 is a diverter valve actuator for Ideal Europa combi boilers. It sits on the diverter valve section and drives the valve mechanism that directs heated water either to the central heating circuit or to the domestic hot water system.

Because the diverter valve only appears on combi appliances, the actuator is specific to that layout: it responds to the boiler's demand signal and moves the valve between the heating and hot water positions. When it fails, the boiler can no longer switch between the two duties reliably.

• Domestic hot water runs hot while the central heating is calling, or the radiators warm up when only a tap is opened.
• Hot water stays cold or only lukewarm despite the boiler firing on a hot water demand.
• The actuator head does not move when the boiler switches between heating and hot water modes.
• The boiler locks out or reports a diverter or valve fault after a demand change.
• The actuator motor is noisy, buzzes continuously or feels hot to the touch.

• Check the boiler's GC number and model plate against the compatibility list, as the same appliance family uses several diverter valve variants.
• Compare the numbers on the old actuator with 172505, 1178851 and N5420-C before ordering.
• With the actuator removed, inspect the diverter valve body and its seals, and renew any that are perished before refitting.
• Isolate the electrical supply to the boiler and follow the manufacturer's instructions when removing and refitting the actuator.
