What it is

The Ideal 172318 is an insulation retaining angle used on Ideal Commercial Concord ES340/H and ESi 340 CPT appliances. It is a formed metal section that holds the appliance casing insulation in position, keeping the thermal lining tight against the panels it protects. Without it, insulation can drop or shift inside the casing, which affects how the appliance retains heat and how the casing surfaces behave in service.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Insulation panels sitting loose or dropping away from the casing interior
  • Retaining angle visibly corroded, scaled or thinned along its length
  • Angle bent or distorted so it no longer grips the insulation edge
  • Insulation edge frayed or crushed where the angle has been bearing on it
  • Casing running noticeably warmer than usual because the lining has moved

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the Concord ES340/H and ESi 340 variants use different assemblies
  • Check the existing retaining angle against the part number 172318 and the previous number 8358-8215 before ordering
  • Inspect the insulation panels at the same time; a loose angle often means the lining has already shifted
  • Work on the appliance casing should be carried out by a competent engineer, with the appliance isolated and cooled before panels are removed
