What it is

The insulation retaining angle is a formed metal section that holds the appliance's insulation panels in position against the casing or heat exchanger surround. It is manufactured by Ideal for its commercial Concord range and is supplied under part number 172311. Without it, insulation boards can drop out of place, leaving surfaces exposed and reducing the thermal efficiency of the appliance.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Insulation panels have dropped or slipped out of their correct position inside the casing.
  • The retaining angle is corroded, distorted or has lost its fixing points.
  • Visible gaps appear around the insulation, allowing heat to escape from the appliance.
  • The angle has been removed during servicing and no longer clips or holds the insulation securely.
  • Insulation material is found loose inside the casing at service.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and, where available, the serial number before ordering, as the Concord range uses several casing and insulation variants.
  • Check the existing retaining angle against the previous number 8358-8208 to confirm it is the same profile.
  • Inspect the insulation panels at the same time; damaged or degraded boards will not be held correctly by a new angle.
