What it is
The Ideal 172272 is an earth lead supplied for Caradon Ideal commercial boiler assemblies. It provides the earthing connection between metalwork and the appliance earth terminal, giving a controlled path to earth and helping protect the casing and controls from stray current. The lead is listed against the Concord ES commercial range and is also referenced under the Keston brand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Continuity test between the casing or component and the earth terminal fails or reads high resistance.
- Visible corrosion, discolouration or fraying at the ring terminal or along the conductor.
- The lead is loose at either fixing point and cannot be tightened securely.
- Intermittent electrical faults or nuisance tripping that trace back to a poor earth connection.
- Heat damage to the insulation where the lead runs close to hot components.
