What it is
The Ideal 172267 is a cable gland used where the electrical supply cable enters the appliance casing. It clamps the cable outer sheath and seals the entry point, holding the cable strain-relieved and keeping moisture and dust away from the internal wiring. The part is supplied by Ideal and is also listed under the Keston brand.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The gland no longer grips the cable sheath and the cable can be pulled or twisted at the entry point
- Cracks or damage to the gland body, locking nut or sealing face
- Water tracking into the casing around the cable entry
- Corrosion or a degraded seal where the cable passes through the panel
- The cable gland has been disturbed during a previous repair and will not tighten down
