What it is

The Ideal 172216 is a complete gas train assembly supplied for Ideal Commercial boilers. It forms the gas-carrying path into the burner, bringing together the valve and associated components that regulate and shut off the gas supply during firing and standby. This assembly is listed against the Ideal Commercial Concord range and is the direct replacement for the earlier 8358-8702 reference.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The boiler locks out or fails to fire, with no gas reaching the burner.
  • Ignition is erratic, or the burner lights and then drops out shortly afterwards.
  • Flame is unstable, weak or visibly different from normal operation.
  • The gas valve does not open or close cleanly, or the appliance will not hold a steady flame.
  • A smell of gas or a leak detected around the gas train during a service or tightness test.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering, as the gas train is specific to the Concord ES300/H and ESi 300 variants listed.
  • Check the number on the existing component: this assembly replaces 8358-8702, and 1178599 is also used to identify it.
  • Inspect the mating gaskets and seals on removal and replace any that are compressed, split or hardened.
