What it is
The Ideal 172179 is a front lower insulation panel supplied by Ideal for its Commercial Concord range of commercial boilers. It is the moulded insulation piece that sits at the lower front of the appliance, where it limits heat transfer from the hot internal components to the casing and surrounding surfaces. Insulation of this type degrades over years of service, so the panel is a serviceable item rather than a permanent fixture.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The insulation is visibly crumbling, cracked or breaking away from the panel
- The panel has become damp, compressed or discoloured, which reduces its insulating performance
- Casing surfaces around the lower front of the appliance run noticeably hotter than they should
- The insulation has come loose from its mounting and is sitting out of position
- Heat damage or scorching is visible on the panel or on the metalwork behind it
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and, where available, the serial number before ordering, as Concord variants use different insulation sets
- Check the previous number 8358-4030 against the part currently fitted to the appliance
- Inspect any seals, gaskets or fasteners disturbed during removal and replace them if they are perished or damaged
