What it is

The Ideal 172174 is the lower front insulation panel used on Ideal Commercial Concord boiler appliances. It sits at the lower front of the appliance casing, where it reduces heat loss from the combustion area and keeps the outer panels at a safe working temperature. The panel is shaped to the casing profile of the Concord range, so it locates correctly against the front section without trimming or modification.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The insulation board is cracked, crumbling or breaking up at the edges
  • Sections of the panel have come away from the casing or are missing altogether
  • Heat damage, scorching or discolouration across the lower front panel
  • The panel no longer sits flat against the casing after a service or strip-down
  • Exposed metalwork where the insulation should be shielding the front section

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as Concord variants differ in casing layout
  • Check the numbers on the old panel or the parts list — 1178559 and 8358-4025 both refer to this item
  • Inspect any retaining clips, studs or fixings that hold the panel in place and order replacements if they are damaged
  • Insulation panels are usually replaced during a strip-down, so confirm whether other casing insulation is also required before reassembling
