What it is

The Ideal 172115 is a front insulation panel for the combustion chamber, produced by Ideal for its Commercial Concord range. It sits at the front face of the chamber and forms the heat-resistant barrier that keeps combustion heat where it belongs, protecting surrounding panels and reducing heat loss into the appliance casing. The material is exposed to continuous thermal cycling, so it degrades over the life of the appliance and is replaced as part of chamber servicing.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The insulation face is cracked, crumbling or flaking away
  • Charring or discolouration well beyond normal heat marking
  • The panel has come away from the chamber front or dropped out of position
  • Exposed metal or visible gaps around the chamber front
  • Localised hot spots or higher casing temperatures than expected

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model against the compatibility list before ordering.
  • Check the number marked on the existing insulation; earlier builds used 9422-9238.
  • If the chamber front is being opened for service, inspect the surrounding seals and fixings at the same time.
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
