What it is

The Ideal 172113 is the front insulation panel for the combustion chamber, supplied by Ideal for its Commercial Concord range. It sits against the front face of the chamber and holds heat inside the combustion zone, protecting the surrounding casing and panels from sustained high temperatures. Insulation of this type degrades over years of service, so it is treated as a serviceable item rather than a permanent fixture.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The insulation board is cracked, crumbling or breaking away from the front face
  • Material is flaking off and dropping into the combustion chamber or onto the burner area
  • Heat discolouration, scorching or blistering on the front casing or adjacent panels
  • Combustion readings that will not settle, or a chamber that no longer holds temperature as expected
  • Visible compression or collapse of the panel where it has been exposed to prolonged heat

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and, where shown, the GC number against the compatibility list before ordering
  • Check the existing insulation for the old number 9422-9236 or 1178498, as these identify the same panel
  • Inspect the remaining chamber insulation panels and any seals at the same time, since they age at a similar rate
  • This part is fitted to a gas appliance; installation must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
