What it is
The Ideal 172045 is a middle section for the sectional heat exchanger used in Ideal Commercial Concord condensing boilers. It forms one element of the cast heat exchanger block, sitting between the front and rear sections, and carries flue gases on one face and system water on the other so heat is transferred into the heating circuit. The section is supplied as an individual casting for rebuild or repair of the heat exchanger assembly.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping, damp staining or crusting at the joint between heat exchanger sections
- Kettling, rumbling or banging noises as the boiler heats up
- Repeated high-limit trips or the appliance cutting out on overheat
- Reduced heat output to the system despite the burner running normally
- Visible corrosion, pitting, cracking or heavy scale on the section face
