What it is
The Ideal 171516 is an inspection cover gasket manufactured for Ideal Commercial appliances. It sits between the inspection cover and its mating face, forming a compression seal that keeps flue products and condensate where they belong once the cover is bolted back down. The gasket is a service item, so it is normally renewed whenever the inspection cover is disturbed.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Traces of water or condensate weeping from around the inspection cover joint.
- Staining, crusting or corrosion on the cover face or the surrounding casing.
- The gasket is flattened, brittle, cracked or stuck to the mating face on removal.
- The cover has been taken off for inspection or cleaning and the old gasket cannot be reused.
- Slight flue gas odour around the cover area when the appliance is running.
Before you order
- Confirm your appliance model and, where available, its GC number against the compatibility list before ordering.
- Check the alternative number 1780090 against any documentation you hold, as it may appear on older paperwork.
- Order a replacement gasket whenever the inspection cover is removed, as a compressed gasket will not reseal reliably.
