What it is

The Ideal 171274 is a 6 amp circuit breaker used in the wiring of Ideal commercial heating appliances. It protects the electrical circuit by interrupting the supply when current exceeds its 6A rating, so a fault does not damage the control components or the appliance's wiring loom. It is a serviceable electrical spare for the Ideal Commercial Harrier GTE and GTE5 range.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The breaker trips repeatedly with no obvious external fault on the appliance.
  • The appliance loses power at the point the breaker opens, with the rest of the installation unaffected.
  • The breaker will not reset or hold in the on position.
  • Visible scorching, discolouration or a burnt smell around the breaker body or its terminals.
  • Nuisance tripping that occurs during start-up or when the appliance reaches operating temperature.

Before you order

  • Confirm the appliance model and serial number against the compatibility list, as the same range can use different electrical components across build variants.
  • Check the existing breaker against the numbers listed here, including previous number 95340285 and alternative number 1178067.
  • Isolate the electrical supply at the isolator and prove dead before removing or fitting any wiring component.
  • Inspect the terminal connections and loom for heat damage while the breaker is out, as a loose connection can cause the replacement to fail in the same way.
