Ideal Cover Insulation 14 Section 171186

The Ideal 171186 is a cover insulation section manufactured for Ideal Commercial boilers. It is a 14-section insulation cover that sits over the boiler's section assembly, holding heat inside the heat exchanger and limiting the temperature reached by the outer casing and surrounding components.

Insulation of this type degrades over years of service, particularly where it is exposed to heat cycling, moisture or oil mist. Replacing it restores the thermal barrier around the section block.

• Insulation material crumbling, flaking or breaking away from the cover
• Visible charring, discolouration or heat damage on the insulation surface
• Insulation that has become damp, oil-soaked or compressed and no longer sits correctly
• Higher than normal casing or flue-area temperatures on the appliance
• Exposed metal sections where the cover has deteriorated or fallen away

• Confirm the boiler model and that the section assembly is the 14-section type before ordering
• Check the part number on the existing insulation where it is still legible
• Note that the earlier number 85555533 identifies the same item
• Work on the appliance should be carried out by a competent engineer, with the boiler isolated and cooled before the cover is removed
