What it is

The Ideal 171030 is a return pipe kit manufactured for the Isar and Icos system boiler families. It forms part of the pipework that carries water returning from the heating circuit back into the appliance, so it sits on the water side of the boiler rather than the gas side. The kit is supplied as a complete pipe assembly for the return connection, replacing the original pipework when it has corroded, scaled or started to leak.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Water weeping or dripping from the return pipe run or from a joint on the assembly
  • Visible corrosion, pitting or heavy scale on the pipe surface
  • Staining or discolouration around the pipework that points to a slow, long-standing leak
  • System pressure dropping repeatedly with no other obvious source
  • Restricted flow on the return side, giving noisy or uneven operation

Before you order

  • Check the GC number on the appliance data badge against the compatibility list to confirm the boiler model.
  • Confirm the part number 171030 or the alternative number 1178012 matches the component being replaced.
  • Inspect the seals and washers on the existing pipework and renew any that are perished, hardened or deformed.
  • The kit is not a gas-carrying part, but any work on the appliance water circuit still requires the system to be isolated and drained before the pipework is disturbed.
