What it is

The Ideal 170991 is a pressure gauge kit manufactured by Ideal for use on Ideal gas boilers. The gauge displays the water pressure inside the sealed heating circuit, giving a direct visual reading at the boiler so the system can be checked against its required operating range. It is listed under the gauges – temperature / pressure part group and is supplied as a kit rather than a bare gauge head.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The needle sits at zero or fails to move when the system is pressurised.
  • The reading drifts or jumps and does not match the pressure shown at the filling loop.
  • The needle sticks, or does not return to zero when pressure is released.
  • Water weeps from the gauge body or its connection to the boiler.
  • The dial face is clouded, cracked or the scale is no longer legible.

Before you order

  • Note the boiler model and GC number from the data badge and confirm the part number against the appliance parts list.
  • Check the existing gauge connection and seating before fitting, and renew any sealing washer or O-ring if the joint shows signs of weeping.
