What it is
The Ideal 170909 is a fan kit intended for Ideal Icos, Isar and Icos System boilers. The fan draws combustion air into the burner and pushes flue gases out through the flue assembly, so it sits at the centre of the appliance's safe combustion and flueing operation. This kit is supplied as a fan assembly for direct replacement of the original unit.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler locks out or fails to ignite, with a fan or air pressure related fault code stored.
- Whistling, grinding or rumbling noise from the fan area during or after ignition.
- Intermittent operation where the boiler runs and then shuts down shortly after firing.
- Visible damage, corrosion or debris build-up on the fan impeller or housing.
- Flue gas readings outside the expected range, or repeated flame failure on start-up.
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and, where available, the GC number against the compatibility list before ordering.
- Check the existing fan assembly and its mounting gasket or seal, as these may need renewing at the same time.
- Isolate the electrical supply and the gas supply before removing the existing fan, and follow the manufacturer's service instructions.
