What it is

The Ideal 170353 is a rear top casing assembly for Ideal Commercial boilers, supplied as a 490mm wide panel. It forms part of the outer casing that encloses the appliance, shielding the heat exchanger, insulation and internal components from the surrounding plant room environment while keeping the boiler's external profile intact.

Casing panels on commercial appliances take knocks during servicing and can distort or corrode over a long service life, which is why they are listed as a separate replaceable item rather than part of a sealed assembly.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Visible cracking, splitting or perforation of the rear top panel
  • Corrosion or rust staining along the panel edges or fixing points
  • Distortion that stops the casing sitting square on the boiler frame
  • Heat discolouration or blistering of the panel surface
  • Panel fixings no longer holding, leaving the casing loose or rattling

Before you order

  • Confirm the boiler model and serial number against the compatibility list before ordering, as casing panels differ between Viceroy variants.
  • Check the number stamped or labelled on the existing panel; earlier builds may carry 82290514 rather than 170353.
  • Inspect the panel fixings and any seals around the casing while the appliance is open, and replace them if they are perished.
  • This is not a gas-carrying component, so replacement does not involve breaking into the gas path, but any work inside the appliance casing should still be carried out by a competent engineer.
