What it is
The Vaillant 150240 is an automatic bypass valve rated at 2.5M, supplied as a valve assembly for Vaillant heating appliances. It sits in the primary circuit and regulates flow through the appliance, opening as system resistance rises so that a minimum flow rate is maintained across the heat exchanger. Keeping that flow within the design limits of the boiler protects the appliance during part-load running, low-demand periods and any situation where radiator valves or zone valves close down.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler short-cycles, reaching temperature and shutting down repeatedly when demand is low.
- Radiators warm up when only hot water is being drawn, or the system becomes difficult to balance.
- Whistling, gurgling or rushing water noise from the bypass area of the appliance.
- Overheat faults or lockouts during reduced-flow operation.
- The valve body shows scale, corrosion, a sticking spindle or a seized setting.
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model and GC number against the compatibility list.
- Check that the valve currently fitted is marked 150240 or carries the same 2.5M rating.
- Inspect the mating faces and seals on the appliance before fitting the replacement valve.

Fitment listings are a guide, not a guarantee. Plant-room assemblies get modified on site more often than not. Send us the GC number off the data badge and a photo of the existing valve and we will confirm before anything is dispatched.
