What it is
The Ideal fan assembly, part number 137568, is a replacement combustion fan for the Ideal Classic and Classic Combi boiler families. It sits on the combustion circuit, drawing fresh air into the combustion chamber and driving the products of combustion out to the flue at the end of the burn cycle. The boiler's safety parameters prevent gas reaching the main burner unless the fan is proving correctly, so a fan that has stopped will stop the appliance firing altogether.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler will not fire and locks out on a call for heat
- The fan does not turn, or turns intermittently, when the boiler starts
- Grinding, rumbling or whining noise coming from the fan housing
- The appliance fires briefly and then shuts down
- Repeated lockouts that clear after a reset but return on the next demand
