What it is
The Valve Union Seal is a sealing component manufactured by Altecnic for the Dirtmag IQ™. It fits into the union joint of the valve assembly, forming the watertight face between the mating union surfaces. Its job is to keep that connection sealed while the valve is in service.
Signs this part needs replacing
- A slow weep or drip at the union joint, especially when the system is hot or under pressure
- Damp staining, water marks or light corrosion around the union nut and adjacent pipework
- The seal is flattened, split, perished or visibly deformed when the union is opened
- The joint continues to weep after being re-tightened
