What it is
This is an Altecnic ball valve with a red lever handle and 22mm press-fit connections. It is used to isolate flow on 22mm pipework, allowing a section of a heating or plumbing system to be shut down for service or repair by turning the lever a quarter turn.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping from the spindle or around the lever when the valve is operated.
- The lever turns but flow is not fully shut off, so the isolated section cannot be drained down.
- The lever is stiff, seized or fails to move through its full quarter turn.
- Dampness or corrosion staining at the press-fit joints where the valve meets the pipework.
