What it is
The 28mm Press-fit Butterfly Handle Ball Valve is an isolation valve manufactured by Altecnic. It uses a quarter-turn ball mechanism operated by a butterfly handle, and connects to 28mm pipework by press-fit joints. It is intended for isolating sections of pipework on heating and plumbing systems without draining the whole circuit.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The handle turns without shutting off the flow, or is stiff and difficult to operate
- Water weeping from the valve spindle or around the handle
- A dripping or weeping press-fit joint at either end of the valve body
- Visible corrosion or scale build-up on the body, handle or connections
- The valve will not hold isolation, so downstream work cannot be carried out dry
