What it is
The Vaillant 115242 is a piezo ignition unit used on the MAG Mini 11-0/0 XZ water heater. It generates the high-voltage spark that lights the burner when the ignition button is pressed. The unit is a push-operated piezo generator, producing a spark without any external power supply.
Signs this part needs replacing
- No spark at the burner electrode when the ignition button is pressed
- No audible click from the piezo unit on operation
- Weak, intermittent or inconsistent spark
- The appliance fails to light despite gas and water supply being present
- Visible damage to the piezo body, plunger or lead
Before you order
- Confirm the appliance model against the data plate before ordering
- Check the existing piezo unit for the 115242 part number
- Inspect the ignition lead and electrode, as a fault there can mimic a failed piezo unit
- Check that the ignition button mechanism operates freely and fully depresses the plunger
