What it is
The Ideal gas valve is a high/low type valve controlling gas delivery to the burner on Ideal Commercial appliances. It responds to a signal from the electronic control board: when demand for gas at the burner rises, the valve opens and meters flow through to the burner or pilot assembly, depending on the appliance model. This is the VR4605 PB2003 variant, supplied under Ideal part number 111867.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The burner fails to light or lights intermittently despite a call for heat from the controls
- The appliance locks out shortly after ignition or during a demand cycle
- No gas reaches the burner or pilot assembly when the control board signals for it
- Flame failure or unstable flame at the burner
- The valve body shows signs of sticking, seizure or an audible failure to open and close cleanly
