What it is
This is a 1/2 straight lockshield manufactured by Altecnic for use on the Ecocal radiator valve range. It provides the manual balancing side of a radiator circuit, with a male BSP (R) threaded connection and a straight body pattern. The lockshield is adjusted with a spanner or key to set the flow through the radiator and balance the system.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Visible weeping or staining around the valve body or spindle
- The valve will not hold a setting and drifts after balancing
- The spindle is stiff, seized or rounded so it cannot be adjusted
- Water tracking along the thread or union joint
- The valve has been damaged during removal or servicing
