What it is
This is a 1/2 in angled lockshield valve manufactured by Altecnic as part of the Ecocal range of radiator valves. It fits on the return side of a radiator and is used to balance the system flow. The valve body has a male BSP (R) taper thread.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Persistent weeping or dripping from the spindle gland
- The valve head will not turn, or turns without altering flow through the radiator
- Rounded or chewed spindle head that cannot be adjusted with a spanner or key
- Corrosion or scale around the valve body or thread
- Thread damage or a poor seal where the valve enters the radiator tail

- Confirm the valve connection is 1/2 in BSP (R) taper male thread, as BSP (G) parallel threads are not interchangeable
- Check whether the installation is angled or straight, as the body shape differs
- Verify the valve is being fitted to an Altecnic Ecocal radiator valve arrangement
- Isolate and drain the system before removing the existing lockshield
