What it is
The Baxi 102218 is a 28 mm compression olive supplied for Baxi and Potterton wall-mounted boilers. It sits on the pipe end inside the compression nut and fitting body, and deforms as the nut is tightened to grip the pipe and form a watertight joint. It is a small but critical sealing component on the pipework and hydraulic assemblies of the appliance.
Signs this part needs replacing
- A weeping or dripping compression joint after servicing or component replacement
- Damp staining, scale build-up or corrosion around the pipe nut
- Visible flattening, scoring or distortion on the olive once the joint is disturbed
- Water tracking along the pipe and pooling beneath the appliance
