What it is
The Baxi pilot ignition electrode, part number 102024, is the spark-generating component fitted to the pilot assembly of Baxi Bermuda back boiler appliances. It produces the spark that lights the pilot flame, which in turn establishes ignition at the main burner. Flame sensing electrodes work alongside it to monitor whether a flame is present, an important safety function that prevents gas being supplied when there is no flame.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The boiler fails to light and locks out on an ignition fault
- No spark is visible at the pilot assembly when the appliance is called for heat
- The pilot flame lights but does not hold, dropping out shortly after ignition
- Repeated lockouts that need a manual reset before the boiler will run
