What it is

A 4mm nut and olive assembly manufactured by Johnson & Starley. It forms the compression joint on the small-bore pipework of Johnson & Starley warm air units, sealing the pipe where it enters a valve, injector or manifold connection.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • Visible weeping or damp staining around the compression joint
  • A smell of gas at the nut and olive connection on the pipework
  • The olive is crushed, distorted or scored and will not seal on re-making
  • The nut is rounded, cracked or seized on the pipe
  • Corrosion or verdigris on the nut body
