What it is
The SIT 0.290.174 thermocouple is a Johnson & Starley spare, manufacturer part number 1000-0703870, used across the Hispec and Jb25PB warm air unit ranges. It sits in the pilot flame assembly and generates the small voltage that holds the gas valve open while the pilot is lit. When the thermocouple fails, the pilot will not stay alight once the control knob is released.
