What it is

The Alpha 1.6406 is a 5 mm grommet for the APS cable. It is fitted to a range of Alpha gas boilers to seal and protect the cable where it passes through the appliance casing. The grommet holds the cable securely at the entry point and keeps it clear of sharp metal edges.

Signs this part needs replacing

  • The grommet is split, cracked or perished
  • The grommet is missing or has pulled out of the casing
  • Cable insulation is chafed or worn at the entry point
  • The grommet has hardened and no longer grips the cable
  • There is a visible gap around the cable where it passes through the casing

Before you order

  • Confirm your boiler model against the fit list above
  • Check the existing grommet is 5 mm and suits the APS cable
  • Inspect the cable for damage before fitting
