What it is
The Alpha 1.2405 is a left-hand ignition electrode used on Alpha CB, HE and SY gas boiler ranges. It sits in the combustion chamber and provides the spark that lights the burner on demand. The electrode is a serviceable ignition component and is replaced as a single item.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Boiler fails to ignite, with no spark at the burner
- Repeated lockout on start-up that clears only after several attempts
- Visible cracking, erosion or heavy carbon build-up on the electrode tip
- Damaged or brittle ceramic insulator
- Spark tracking to earth instead of across the electrode gap
