What it is
The Alpha 8-litre expansion vessel absorbs the expansion of water in the sealed central heating system as it heats up, maintaining safe system pressure. It is a genuine Alpha part, number 1.030996.
Signs this part needs replacing
- The system pressure falls repeatedly and needs regular topping up
- Water discharging from the pressure relief valve
- The vessel feels waterlogged (little or no give when pressed) rather than springy
Before you order
- Check and, if needed, recharge the air pre-charge pressure before condemning the vessel
- Isolate and drain down the system before removing the vessel
- Match the litre capacity to the original
