What it is
The Alpha pressure relief valve is a 3 bar safety component fitted to the heating circuit of Alpha gas boilers. It opens proportionally as internal pressure rises, discharging water through the outlet to prevent pressure building beyond the design limit of the closed system. It is used across the Alpha Eco 2, Eco 2 Plus and InTEC 2 ranges.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water weeping or discharging continuously from the valve outlet or discharge pipe
- System pressure rising above the normal cold-fill reading with no obvious cause
- Boiler locking out or cutting out on pressure-related faults
- Visible scale, corrosion or debris around the valve seat
- Valve failing to reseat after a pressure release

- Inspect the sealing washer or gasket at the valve connection and replace if it is compressed or perished
