What it is
The Alpha 3 bar pressure relief valve is a safety component fitted to Alpha CD range boilers. It opens and discharges water when system pressure climbs to its 3 bar set point, protecting the heat exchanger and other pressurised parts from over-pressure. The valve is supplied by Alpha under part number 1.023565 and is listed as a temperature and pressure relief valve spare.
Signs this part needs replacing
- Water continually dripping or running from the boiler discharge pipe when the system is cold
- System pressure rising steadily and repeatedly blowing off through the relief pipe
- Boiler losing pressure overnight with no visible leak elsewhere on the system
- The valve failing to reseat after it has lifted, leaving the discharge pipe wet
- Scale or debris visible at the valve outlet, or the valve spindle sticking when operated
